SARC 1919

The San Antonio Radio Club (SARC) is one of the oldest amateur radio clubs that is still around and operating. It was founded in 1919 as the Bexar County Radio Association and reorganized in 1929 as the San Antonio Radio Club. We are one of the oldest affiliated amateur radio clubs of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) having become affiliated with them in January 1919. In 1995, the ARRL Recognized the San Antonio Radio Club – Charter of Affiliation for over 75 years. SARC is a non-profit corporation of the State of Texas. It has members who are active in various areas of the amateur radio service. Amateur radio operators are often called ham radio operators.

SARC has a General Membership meeting every month of the year except December. These meetings are usually held at 7:00 p. m. on the second Thursday of the month. For the last several months , they have been held at Blanco BBQ in San Antonio, Texas. A 20-40 minute program, normally a technical topic of interest to hams, is presented at nine (9) of the eleven (11) monthly meetings in a year. In the other two (2) meetings the focus is on Radio Fiesta and Field Day respectively. The next meeting time and program is usually posted as a News Blast! on the W5SC.ORG website and in the Bexar Wire newsletter.
