Locked Need Help w/ Kenwood TM-D710A
Hello. I was mailed a radio from a friend in Virginia. He wanted me to have a dual-band mobile. Would someone be willing to meet with me to show me how to set it up and get it going? Thank you for your consideration.

I have two of those radios and they are wonderful. I would recommend going to RTsystems at https://www.rtsystemsinc.com/ and purchase their USB cable and software so that you can program it with a laptop or your computer. I use my laptop because I'll take the laptop out to the vehicle and just plug in the cable. If you can use an Excel spreadsheet, you can use their software. It's worth every penny. Programming by hand is a PITA. I've got some PDF files I could send you that show you how to set it up for aprs, which is built-in to the radio. It has a built-in GPS in the control head. It also handles a TNC that you can hook up to a computer to do winlink or general packet operations. You do want to make sure that you've got a good power connection hooked up to it because it draws some amps. I run it directly off the battery with the inline fuse using the standard OEM power cable. I do have spare cables if you end up needing one. But expected to draw at least 20 amps, especially on high power.
