Bill Craft

Hello!

My name is Dave, my wife and I are moving to San Antonio soon. I am reaching out to you for some information of good housing locations that is amateur radio antenna friendly. And general “on-the ground” information of the general ham interests.

I am coming from Pierce County, WA.  where I am a RO for East Pierce.  Feel free to give me a call 760-608-9577

Thanks for your time..

Dave, I advise you to check the HOA restrictions on anywhere you look. I am in a restrictive HOA but have been lucky so far. I have EFHW wire up, pretty unobtrusive and no one complained yet. San Antonio covers a LOT of area. I live in Schertz just NE of the city. Personally, if I were to do it again I’d stay North to NE of the city and look for less sparsely populated plots.

Or even better, a subdivision that doesn't have HOA. Why someone wants to pay a bunch of people to tell them what they can and can't do with their house is WAY beyond me.

If I'm paying the mortgage, (which I am) no one has the right to tell me jack crap about my house or what I do with it.

Just my  .02¢
(.04¢ with inflation as another ham put it)

I can explain how a ham winds up in a HOA.

My wife looked at and liked Mainland Square.  I pointed out it had an HOA and I did not like HOA's.  So we voted.

She voted to buy, I voted no, and she voted to buy.  Yes I was outvoted 2 to 1.  I KNOW IF MAMA ISN'T HAPPY - NO ONE IS HAPPY..

My vhf/uhf is in the attic.  My hf is an inverted "L" with a bird house on top of each support pole.  Ideal - no, acceptable - yes AND MAMA IS HAPPY.

That is what is important - Mama is happy.

Yeah, I agree with JC also. It happens, so we learn to deal with it and we ask others in the hobby for help.

Personally, a flagpole in the front yard is in my future.
