Locked Ham help needed October 5th-6th for San Antonio's BikeMS ride
Hams Needed – BikeMS October 5-6th 2019
We're looking for more ham radio operators to volunteer for the annual National MS Society BikeMS Valero Ride to the River cycling event on October 5-6th 2019… Please share with your clubs or other hams. Please contact me directly (not back to the groups please) for more details about this annual event. We do have a few assignments for non hams as well, such as a driver or navigator paired up with a ham, etc.. You can volunteer for 1 or both days as Breakpoint operators, but SAG Teams & Tour shadows are generally 2-day assignments. Breakpoint hams, SAG Teams Teams, Shadow operators for police and Event Tour Directors, Net Control ops, etc. Motorcycle Marshals are being coordinated by Raymond McLeaird, N5RAM. This ride starts at Rolling Oaks Mall, on the north side of San Antonio Saturday morning and ends up at the Comal County Fairgrounds in New Braunfels that evening. It passes east thru Seguin before heading back to New Braunfels. On Sunday, the routes loop out from the Fairgrounds into the Hill Country near Canyon Lake, including River Road. There are 2 routes on Sunday. Note: you can change volunteer category assignments on this page by using the drop down menu at the top of the page. Choices include general Ham Radio Operators, SAG Teams and Motorcycle Marshals among others. We've got 7-8 rest stops / breakpoints to staff on Saturday and 5 on Sunday. Net control will be in New Braunfels at the Fairground both days. We prefer to have a driver / navigator for all 15 SAG Teams. Some will drive pickup trucks while the others will be in 15-passenger white vans. Rental vehicles are provided for SAG Teams and fuel is covered by a temporary use fuel card, so no cash out of hand for those types of assignments. Motorcycle Marshals also get fuel provided. This volunteer link below is just to get your name into the BikeMS volunteer system. Actual assignments will be made manually by Lee Besing N5NTG and Mary Ann Horn N5MYN. Sign up at this link for the volunteer page for our HAM radio operators. Feel free to forward and share with others. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/bikemscac2019ham Lee Besing, N5NTG email: lee@... or info@... cellphone: 210-771-7075 (leave voicemail or text msg, I work nights & sleep in) San Antonio TX |
