I know who has three of the Radio Shack power supplies, you. That leave RS
to find the other 159,997 units.

Let us know how it turns out.

For those who are into working DX, here is an
opportunity coming up later this month to communicate with a ham in Cyprus.

Hey guys, thought I'd pass this opportunity
along to you. This guy worked the Christmas
Parade in 2007 over in Sattler, Texas, while he
was in town for a training session (he was an

I will be ‘spotted’ – if you miss one morning –
I will return the next one around the same freq

I will listen/call for Texas – especially your

This is a one time message, primarily about public service events
happening in the San Antonio metro and Austin metro area, or points
in between. It is of limited interest to hams not living in this
immediate area. If you are interested in participating in the first
event highlighted below, please contact me direct at this email
address, or at my other "info@sanantoniohams.org" address.

This is the first time that the ADA has rented the 15 passenger vans
for SAG purposes, and the first year they have turned over 100% SAG
Operations and BP Communications to Ham Radio Operators.

MORE HAMS STILL NEEDED FOR MAY 17th-18th

Tour De Cure

American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure on May 17-18 needs ham
radio operators to drive SAG's (15 passenger vans), staff break
points and key shadow positions, and run net control for this two
day event. Some positions open for 1 day assignments. This is only
the 2nd year that the ADA has used Ham Radio Operators, so we need a
strong support from the Ham Radio Community to show them how well we can do.

Event starts in San Antonio on Saturday at the Pearson Test Center
(formerly called Harcourt) on Bulverde Road, near Evans, north of
1604. Finish line on Saturday is in San Marcos at the Texas State
University, but at a new location on the south side of campus.
Sunday's start is same point as Saturday's finish line, and Sunday's
Finish is at Aikin High School on the south side of Austin. Primary
repeater for both days is most likely to be SARO's Canyon Lake
repeater on 147.14, switching on Day 2 to the Austin 146.94 repeater if needed.

All 2 day assignments / volunteers will get use of FREE Dorm Room at
Texas State University in San Marcos for sleeping over night, to
eliminate the need to drive home between days or get a hotel room.
Free T-shirt for all ham volunteers, some free meals provided. Fuel
reimbursement offered for SAG drivers only. Dorm rooms are 2 persons
per room, with restrooms / showers down the hallway. Persons staying
in these rooms need to furnish their own pillow, bed linens and
towels as needed.

Contact LEE BESING, N5NTG, at 210-771-7075 or via email at

to volunteer. Jeff Schmidt, N5MNW, is coordinating hams from the
Austin end of the course, and the hams from Hayes County ARES are
coordinating San Marcos Hams.

At various (TBD) points in the class, I would like to have some local hams

Team,

As some of you already know, our fearless leader David K5OLE was
diagnosed last week with colon cancer.

He underwent surgery this afternoon and had a tumor the size of an egg
removed, as well as several lymph nodes. The surgery went fine and
David is in the Surgical ICU for 24 hours for observation, then
hopefully will be transferred to a regular room tomorrow.

David estimates that he will not be back up to full speed for at least
six weeks.

Please keep K5OLE in your thoughts and wish him a speedy recovery.
Cards and well wishes can be sent to his home address, which is listed
on QRZ.
