P.S. I have some great videos already lined up for 2022, starting with some "Best Of" videos about different topics inside of Amateur Radio.  These videos specifically target new Ham Radio Operators, and I have a playlist for all of these videos at this link, which I call the New Ham Workshop.  Check it out!

Larry Stewart, KG5RVR, asked me to pass along an invitation for us to get together at Brackenridge Park, probably at the Joske Pavilion, Saturday, January 8, at around 9:00am until lunchtime. It can be a dress rehearsal for Winter Field Day which I've heard (but don't have any details) is the last weekend in January. The get-together is not a formal field day event but is just an opportunity to bring your gear, share ideas, have some fun, and even have an informal cook-out or potluck. I plan to be there with my Yaesu FT-891 and a portable vertical antenna. For additional information and suggestions, please contact Larry at 210-710-6422.

Plus, it’s always more fun as a group!

Signing up for a free, online CW beginner’s class this winter.

This should be a fun way to learn a piece of the hobby – together! With the hottest

craze of the year – ZOOM – our virtual class(es) will allow us to enjoy each other twice a

week as we pluck out Morse Code like 5-year-olds taking the training wheels off our bikes

for the first ride!

When: January/February 2022 – Although other times are available.

Pertinent information is on their website: CWOps.org.
Sign up on the website.

Come learn Morse Code this winter and give your brain something hot to learn in those cool winter months!

Plus, if you already know code and want to brush-up or pick up some speed there are groups for you also.

Hello.  I need to ask if there is someone willing to help me build a capacitive tuner for my EFHW antenna.  I have seen some for QRP but a ham on QRZ.com gave me a guide for a 100W version.  But, I do not now how to begin.  I've never been to Altex, but I can go Saturday morning to get the supplies, if there's someone there who can glean a parts list from the article I was sent.

Thank you for considering.  73 de David AE4LH

Here is the article link:

If you are using an end-fed half-wave antenna, which is a convenient antenna for portable operation, the matching unit can be considerably simplified.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw...eXc/view?resourcekey=0-vuul5TIrY-nr6HX9n5y8lg

A single tunable capacitor, a transformer, and two SPDT switches to select between taps on a transformer are all that is required. You can build it yourself fairly easily.

unless you really want the experience of building yourself. you can find all the parts on ebay- or you could even find a used tuner on ebay or other ham equipment resellers.
If you can wait until our tailgate (dec 4th) you could probably find a good used tuner at a fraction of the price of a new one.
