As far as San Antonio, the 146.940 host the SKYWARN net when activated.  ARES repeater is 147.180.  147.380 will be the resource net, if needed.   Currently everything is in the sait and see mode.

Daytime hurricane net, 14.325, in the evening it moves to 7.268

Hurricane Watch Net Activated

J C Smith

A few minutes ago, the Hurricane watch net for Harvey activated on 7.268 LSB. At this time nothing is going on, just check in's. I'm guessing they will switch to 14.325 in the morning.

Dear Larry N5LL,

I would look in the ARRL Repeater Book first. Also, sanantoniohams.org has information on repeaters although its listing for SARC is wrong and have been so advised. SARC’s repeater came down years ago.

Sincerely,

Stars and Stripes Veterans News - Good news for Vets

From Stars and Stripes

Veterans will soon get to shop tax-free online with AAFES

I know they have some excellent computer and electronic deals.  Yes, I rather shop AAFES than Wal-Mart.

I'm applying for access.

P.S.  If you are not an American Legion member, go on their web site and join.  They are a strong lobby for active duty, reserve, guard, and VETERANS.

Yahoo Group vs, w5sc.slack.com

Paul Guido

QST,

As I discussed at the meeting yesterday, I have built a Slack.com Team as a communication and collaboration tool for club use.  I did this in an effort to modernize the San Antonio Radio Clubs offline communications.

The Yahoo Group has served us well since David K5OLE (SK) made it in May of 2006 but technology marches on.

A Slack Team is broken up into Channels.  In each channel, people can coordinate events and add important information like pictures, files, and links all in a searchable format.

The following open channels are already in the group.

#event  <- to support club events

#fieldday  <- to communicate about Field Day activities

#meeting  <- to discuss meetings past and future

#qst  <- General Amateur Radio anouncements

#radiofiesta  <- to communicate about the Amateur Radio Fiesta activies

#spurious-signals  <- random club information

In the future, other channels can be created for committees to collaborate.

There is a Slack application for apple and android smart phones.  After an invitation is sent, you can have Slack send you a magic link to login.  The Magic Link makes it easy to log in to Slack from your phone for the first time.

If you would like an invite or have questions, please send an email to me using radioteacher@....

Giving away a stack of QST Magazines

Marty Meyers

I have a stack of QST Magazines from early 2012 through 2016 that I am looking to give away (free). Please contact me by email at mrmeyers(at)satx(dot)rr(dot)com. You would need to pick these up from the Helotes area. Depending on distance I may be willing to deliver to a handicapped ham. This would need to be within a reasonable distance from my house though.

Marty
